OdeWire: the realization of a long held dream

by JURRIAN KAMP

Every day, inspiring solutions and new possibilities occur, but most media somehow manage to bury that news under an overwhelming load of problems and failures. Who ever gets to that positive story on page 23 where a creative entrepreneur explains an efficient way to generate energy out of waste?
...
Years ago I took this idea to Google News, but the clever programmers on site at the time told me that the technology needed for what we wanted to achieve did not exist. But we were determined to make it happen. So we started thinking about an international optimistic news service, based on a similar model as Wikipedia, with citizen-correspondents contributing from around the world.
Meanwhile, in early 2010, I ran into Tim Musgrove and his semantic search company TextDigger. He immediately seized the opportunity and the concept of OdeWire was born in a Silicon Valley coffee-shop.

Today, we are launching OdeWire. It is the first automated optimistic, solutions-oriented 24/7 news source in the world. Watch this inntroductory video:

 What does OdeWire do?
...
These sources are high profile. You will recognize most of them: from The Guardian, The Times and the BBC in London... and many, many more.

OdeWire presents the news from these respected and trusted sources. However, we filter their feeds in search of what we call "the page 23 news."
Our wire service will give you the news about everything that is going right in the world today. Isn’t that a refreshing perspective on the daily news? Wouldn’t it make sense to read the latest news about promising new developments? Don’t you love knowing what works in the world? That’s what OdeWire is for. And here's the kicker: research suggests that a more positive news diet supports your health and happiness in this challenging world.
... Our automated semantic filter is not perfect. Judging values is hard for a machine. Yet we are proud to present OdeWire as the inspiring daily news service we dreamed about for years. You can help us make our technology even better with your comments and suggestions. We look forward to hearing from you.

Enjoy the news :o)!
